Dalmilling School Values:
Honesty is being truthful and open. It is important because it builds trust. When people are honest, they can be relied on not to lie, cheat or steal. Being honest means that you accept yourself as you are. When you are open and trustworthy, others can believe in you.
Being responsible means others can trust you to do things well. You accept answerability for your actions and you are able to accept this. When you make a mistake, you offer to put things right instead of excuses. Responsibility is the ability to respond well and to make smart choices.
We show respect by speaking and acting with good manners. We treat others with value and honour the rules of our family, school and country. Respect yourself, and others will respect you.
Compassion is about understanding and caring when someone is hurt or troubled, even if you don’t know them. It is about wanting to help, even if all you can do is listen and say kind words. You forgive mistakes. You are a friend when someone needs a friend.
Excellence is doing your best, giving careful attention to every task and every person. Excellence is effort guided by a good purpose. Excellence is the key to success.
Fairness is the ability to make judgments free from favouritism or dishonesty. It is listening to people with an open mind, not taking advantage of other people and not playing favourites.
